The image and message of the three glass jars was unusual in that it wasn’t given to me all at once by the Lord. Instead, it came over the course of a few days, the vision at first appearing as three clear glasses, side by side, their scalloped edges slightly touching one another. At the time, the Lord was pouring milk into the first glass and as the last drop fell, the vision left my sight. Although the other glasses had been empty, I knew in my spirit that honey and oil would eventually fill the remaining two. The Lord completed the vision a few days later when He added a sunflower to the middle jar, liquid droplets falling from its center to the bottom, filling it with a substance I soon learned was called “honeydew.” As oil began to fill the third cup, the meaning of what was before my closed eyes took shape - a beautiful picture of the fullness of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The first cup represented the Father, the “milk” we receive through His Word. The second cup, the sunflower and honey, represented the abundance we receive as we delight in the Son’s presence, and the third cup of oil represented our anointing by the Holy Spirit when we accept Christ as our Savior. As milk provides physical nourishment to our bodies, God’s Word provides nourishment to our spiritual lives, our source of pure truth. The sunflower, that faces the Son and drips with “honeydew,” gives insight to the richness of depth and relationship gained in our spiritual walk, through time spent in the presence of Jesus. The oil, bringing an anointing of power through the Holy Spirit to walk in the authority we’ve been given to experience signs, wonders and miracles. When we try to live out of just one portion of what we’ve been given, we create an imbalance in our spiritual lives. When we read Scripture void of the intended depth of relationship with Jesus, the words on the page fall flat and become more about an act of religion and less about a relationship with Christ. Or, when we attempt to live out that relationship without acknowledging the power of the Holy Spirit, we find ourselves living a powerless life, dead to the fullness of authority we’ve been given by Jesus when He left this earth. Through the Father’s Word, relationship with Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, we are able to walk in the fullness intended - empowered to accomplish the things the Lord has called us to and has set us apart for. As we walk in His truth, seeking His ultimate purpose for our lives, we must drink in His Word, soak in the abundance of the Son, and live the anointed life filled with power that we were called to.
